Red or not?

It’s no secret a red lip adds a new dimension to every outfit. The perfect pop of colour with a lot of sophistication, if done right.

I have been sticking more to the nudes or very dark lips as of late, maybe because I am still on the search for the perfect red lipstick.

For my previous Fashion post, I was wearing a black and white ensemble that needed the oopmf of red lips.

The one I used here is MAC Red (Satin). It is a beautiful colour, great pigmentation and very moisturizing however its not RED! It may be with my skin tone the real red colour is not showing and instead it comes across as a magenta-like pigment.

Even though this was not the vibrant red I was looking for, here are some of the tricks I used to ensure it lasted me all night without bleeding or needing to reapply.

– I spread the lightest concealer I have all over my lips to give it a blank canvas and hoping the red would show, which helped the colour pop more than usual and made the colour last all night.

-Since I did not have a matching lip liner, I used a lip brush to outline my lips and slightly fill it in before applying it straight to my lips

-I dabbed my regular concealer all around my lip area to define the shape and enhance the pout

– At the end of my entire makeup application, I sprayed my face with the Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray

Do you like this lip colour? Any recommendations for a bright, vibrant red lippie?
